Good Morrow. I'm Charlie and I do songs. Interesting paytoplay article(s). An eye opener, methinks.

aND FINE SONGS THAT ARE Charlie, to at leastr the 40 seconds or so I managed to grab via My Sapce before the phone rang.... right, back to the demo mountain

How to make your very own Charlie Barnes!

Ingredients:
• 500g Thom Yorke
• 500g Mike Vennart
• 1 packet of Matthew Bellamys (finely crushed, try to avoid the heavier pieces)
• 2 Imogen Heaps (womanhood removed, beaten with a whisk)
• 3 Tablespoons of Sainsbury’s Organic Scott Walker
• A pinch of powdered Sigur Ros
• 1 Heaped teaspoon of Dark Side of the Moon
• The zest of 1 and a half Robert Smiths
• 1 65DaysofStatic or half an Aphex Twin (chopped in half and juiced)
• A knob of unsalted Peter Gabriel, for greasing your tin
• Half a pint of condensed Pierre Schaeffer (chilled)
• Half a pint of Paul Mullen/Fyfe Dangerfield (chilled)
• A handful of crumbled Jeff Buckley for decoration

Directions:
1. Sift your Thom Yorke and Mike Vennart together in a large bowl
2. Add the 65DaysofStatic/Aphex Twin into the mixture, stirring constantly to allow plenty of air in.
3. In a separate bowl, whisk together your Imogen Heaps, Scott Walker and Pierre Schaeffer until you have a thick paste
4. Combine the two, adding in your Paul Mullen/Fyfe Dangerfield to bring a little more flow into the mixture.
5. Once your mixture is smooth, add in the zest of Robert Smith and pinch of Sigur Ros, ensuring that they are spread evenly.
6. Whisk the mixture until it stands in soft (but well dressed) peaks, adding a heaped teaspoon of Dark Side of the Moon for extra thickness.
7. To make the base, tightly pack your crushed Matthew Bellamys into the bottom of your tin (making sure you’ve greased it with Peter Gabriel first to avoid sticking). TOP TIP: For your second cake, why not try mixing in a little dessicated Erik Satie or Philip Glass for extra flavour?
8. Pour your mixture over the top, decorating with crumbled Jeff Buckley.
9. Leave in your cold, dark, lonely fridge for 18 or so years until it is thoroughly set in its ways.
10. Serve with warm custard.

greetings

nice to see you've got your own wee forum here. I'm sometimes known as guanoman for forgotten reasons, and sometimes make horrific and/or lovely sounds.

been an organ stalker and lurker for quite a while. marina was even nice enough to spin one of my tunes a while back.

been following the myspace pay-to-play fiasco with increasing bewilderment. whadafuh?

Hello

Postby Jo Roberts on Fri Jul 11, 2008 8:57 pm

Hi, this is Jo/Miss Roberts from the Rude Mechanicals here. The one with the red dress my mum made.

Noticed Organ mentions a lot of bands/people we know and love - Gertrude, Fuck off Batman, Klinker etc. so would like to get involved more and keep updated on all you're doing.

What was it that happened with myspace?

Jo

oh yes we like to cover the good bands like F**k Off Batman, Gertrude and the rather excellent RUDE MECHANICALS wh oI know quite a few of you have been enjoying since we started palying them on the radio show...

Hello Miss Robert, a pleasure to see you here, and hello everyone else who's joined this small forum... and talking of Gertrude and Batman and...

July 19th - Bonkersfest - Day festival celebrating being bonkers - with two stages and other entertainment and events. Put on by Mad Pride and others. 12 noon-9pm, at Camberwell Green, London SE5
And looks who’s playing! GERTRUDE, NOUGHT, POWERSTEPPERS (Colin from Zion Train), LUKE BARLOW BAND (with Alex Ward so that has to be worth checking out), oh and F**K OFF BATMAN – the genius monosynbolic bat-manic free rock outfit who only have the same one line to all their songs, can you guess what it is yet? Oh there’s load of good people/bands/things/performance, this looks like the festival of the year

The Camberwell Green Fair appears to have first happened in 1279 with its range of stalls, dancing and general merry-making, and a motto "Mad Doings in Camberwell". As one historical source puts it, "For these three days the residents of Camberwell were compelled to witness disgusting & demoralising scenes which they were powerless to prevent". In 1855 recently arrived, wealthy residents of the town (normals) clubbed together to buy the Green, ending the fair and turning Camberwell Green into a public park. And now more 'Mad Doings in Camberwell' one that retains the merry-making, joy and celebratory aspects of the original event. "Bonkersfest!", which this year takes place on July 19, celebrates madness, creativity and eccentricity. A day of bonkers celebrations for everyone on their local village green featuring live music, poetry, drama, art and sound installations.

so that's me... hope to meet you all on and offline... I came here mainly due to the nopaytoplay idea which seems perfectly reasonable and i was glad to see this most scurrilous of ideologies being brought up in our 'music community'!

Also as i knew of the whole organ thing having made gene serene's 'pop video' and sent some visuals in for a show - don't know what ever happened to that? maybe now i will find out!

What happened to your Gene Serene video? Well we could never get hold of a decent broadcastable format... We did ask several times and well as fine as Gene Serene's music is, well, not the most together operation...

Anyway wecome to the Organ forum... and wecome to everyone else who has joined since we last said welcome

yes, it was a very very fractured difficult almost imposssssible line full of obsticles and awkward blockages and and stupid rabbi rabbits with egos and war-holes wanting their 15 megabites and if the music and Ms Serene herself hadn't been so damn good we would have jumped off far quicker than we did in the end Still it was a damn fine single...

Feel free to put You Tube links here or indeed tell others about Big Sexy Festi...

this forum is only as good as others make it... let the info flow

Hello, my name is John D Traynor. I compile a weekly gigs list for West Midlands County.

It can accessed here:

http://groups.myspace.com/birminghamgigs

The gig list (most of it) is read out by Louise Brierly on the BBC WM Introducing radio programme live on Thursdays each week between 7pm and 10pm.

The gig list includes day-by-day gig listings with links to the bands' myspace pages or websites so that the gig-goer can listen before she or he goes to the gig.

There are also lists (with links) of local promoters, venues and other useful gig lists and gig-related resources in the West Midlands.

The list is a myspace group. Most West Midlands promoters and many bands are members of the group. Anyone can join the group and post in the related forum.

I rather like the attitude of Organ so thought I'd sign up and join in the chat. I work a day job; write, record, play and release music; write reviews for DiS and try to enjoy everything good along with some things that are bad.

Nice to meetchoo. :D
