THE NUMBNUTTS VOTE FOR A TATTOO ON YOUR HEAD BATTLE OF THE..

Had enough of promoters who think Pay 2 Play in all forms is OK? Had enough of the way some promoters treat bands and us paying gig goers? Sick of battle of the bands crap, vote for this and that, forced ticket buys, want to tell us about the GOOD promoters? This all started on My Space until they started removing what we were saying...

THE NUMBNUTTS VOTE FOR A TATTOO ON YOUR HEAD BATTLE OF THE..

Postby SeanOrgan on Sun Jun 15, 2008 2:02 pm

Here's one of them blogs that kept getting us in to trouble on My Spsce...

NOT GOT A REPLY FROM US IN THE LAST FEW DAYS? THAT'S BECAUSE WE'RE NOW "RESTRICTED" and we can't reply....

Seems My Space has "restricted" our use of their site - something to do with questioning pay to play and answering stupid bands who do nothing but ask us to vote for this that and the other - numbnuts and his tattoo, the morally bankrupt man from GuilFest who lied to us last year whe nhe promised to end the practice of forcing new bands to pay to play his festival. Doesn't stop these idiots from clogging up our in box though does it, another seven vote for us to be on Lollapalooza or vote for us in the second annual national battle of the bands or vote for this, or that or...

Now this one from Birds And Building is getting there, they've clearly considered things a little and made an effort and if we weren't "restricted" then I'd take the time to answer them and tell them that they can see what we do and what we cover and what we play on our radio show and the review policy and everything else is on our front page and our website (http://www.organart.com) and they'd almost certainly benefit from sending something in - choice is in their hands. Five seconds of listening to them on My Space and a polite reply or get of your arse and send the CD in and get some radio play, positive coverage and word spreading from that label who put our Cardiacs records (our Cardiacs page is in hier top friends) . It really isn't rocket science you bands, if you want to get somewhere then get your music out, a My Space page is a good start but nowhere near enough...

You bands really haven't got much hope if all you do is ask people to come listen to your My Space page - if you think people who run radio shows, record labels, magazines and such have the time to go listen to your pages then you're wrong, at best you get 20 seconds of attention - there's about 100 "friends" request this morning, mostly bands... we'll just allow most of them to join our friends list without having the time ot check them out (I assume they're interested in what we do, don't need to like their music to let them read Organ right?) then they'll send a "hey dudes thanks for your support, glad you dig our music, as you are now a fan can you register on this site and vote for us to win a milk shake enema" message - there'll be loads more by the end of the day - I'm on my firth CD of the morning right now, the bands sending stuff in get the priority... this one is rather good, band from New York with a good ten track demo, more about them later...

So Birds And Building sound interesting, up to them really, they can work it out I'm sure, simple really - if you want coverage then send out your music...

Hi. My band Birds and Buildings just finished a big album of progressive rock with some jazz and metal influences. Sort of like King Crimson, Magma, or maybe even Mars Volta or Opeth.

I'm trying to get more people to listen to us, so, if that sounds like music you would like, visit our page!

Thanks for reading this

Dan

P.S.

"This is spam," you might be thinking... Well, I guess it kind of is. But I'm not sending messages out indiscriminately or in big groups. I send them out one-at-a-time, and only to people who seem like they might like the kind of music my band plays. I can send maybe 3 messages in a minute at the most. People who send spam can send thousands of messages in a minute.

"Why not just send friend requests?" Good question. I suspect that a lot of friend requests from bands are accepted without much attention paid to who the band is. With a message, there's some description of what the music is so that you get a better idea of whether you'd like them or not. Plus I get the chance to apologize in advance for annoying people with this neat little postscript.

If this message annoys you, then I really am sorry.

So anyway, here's one of them blogs that keeps getting taken down and this is why we'e been "restricted" (see we've now taken to keeping these things, expecting them to be removed)

HERE'S ONE OF THEM THERE BLOGS THAT KEEPS BEING REMOVED FOR SOME REASON OR OTHER

NUMBNUTS WANTS A TATTOO, VOTE! VOTE to GET THEM OnGUILFEST! VOTE 4 THE ORGAN DUMB BAND OF 2008
Category: Music

Well now, I'M SURE NONE OF YOU HAVE ANYTHING BETTER TO DO THAN VOTE FOR HUNDREDS OF BANDS YOU'VE NEVER HEARD OF EITHER

you know how we've been raging about this that and the other like we do - raging about dumb bands who do nothing more that add thousands of people on My Space and then just spam out dumb messages like "hey dude thanks for your support" or "check out my new songs and send some luv" or "hey, checked out your band and love your songs, please check out mine and leave a comment and vote in the battle of on line bands cause we're too stupid to work out that this is all bullpoop" while failing to notice we're not actually a band because they never ever bother looking at the pages they ask to be added to and then spam. Oh yes, all kinds of intelligent band-life on here clogging up My Space and pulling it all down ...

So this morning we log on, as you do on a Sunny Saturday morning, and our in-box is full of it again, nobody with anything to say other than vote for us to get on this festival, or vote for us on this new song website or to win a tattoo (no really, we did have that one today, vote for my band to win a tattoo!!) - vote for this, vote for that....

And check this one because it seems The True Deceivers need us!

The True Deceivers needs YOU!

We've entered a competition to win a 30-minute slot on the second stage at GuilFest, and we need your votes to win!

All you need to do is go to our artist page here:

(well no, we're not going to actually post the link to the Ents24 website here are we!?)

and click on the 'Vote Now' button. It's that easy! The more votes we get, the better our chance of winning; so please forward this on to your friends and colleagues to make sure we're in the top 5 to face the expert panel.

Plus if we win, every fan that voted for us will be entered into a prize draw to win a pair of weekend camping tickets for GuilFest 2008 and see us play live!

Thank you,

The True Deceivers

Now I have no idea who the True Deceivers are, just another band who ask to be added to our friends list on My Space for some reason or other... I just had a quick listen, pleasant enough breezy folk rock I guess, but hey, I wonder why they asked to be added to our friends list (i wonder why any of you bands do? Hundreds of you every day, why do you? I mean a few of you work out how useful My Space can be, and have bothered actually - shock horror - bothered actually saying hello and talking, and a few of you have landed yourself some radio play, coverage, even a release on our label that's gone on to open other doors and get you BBC radio play and coverage and good gigs and blah blah.... Yes! My Space can open doors for a good new band if you use it right. Most of you bands haven't worked out how to make use of My Space through have you? Hey, if you conduct your real life like you conduct your My Space life then we really are left with wondering if a lot of you bands can even manage the basic things like wiping your bum or opening your mouths and noses in the right way and working out how to breath properly or using brown sauce and not ketchup)

- clearly True Deceivers didn't ask to be added so they could read our pages or check our blog or tfind out what we're about or they wouldn't be stupidly spaming us to get us to vote for anything, let along to get us to vote for them to win a spot on a PAY TO PLAY festival that we've been shouting our mouths off about all week - a festival that forces new bands to buy 1750.00 worth of tickets if they want the honour of playing the new band stage instead of actually booking the best new bands for their new bands stage, bands that possibly just might have us all wanting to buy tickets go to the festival in the first place - I mean have you checked the quality control on these new bands stages, it seems any old band can get on, music and talent has nothing to do with it, just anyone who can afford it...no working class cutting edge new bands from places like Manchester then?

So we asked True Deceivers why they want to play a Pay To Play festival anyway? We asked Ents24 why they think of pay to play festivals and why they are supporting it... .by the way still no answer from those Levellers or 65Daysofstatic or Mick Jones the one time Clash man anyone else who's names are being used to bring in these pay to play bands who don't know any better and don't know they're being cheated or.... very disappointed in the silence from those Levellers.

So let us get this clear, we despise pay to play in all forms and that includes forced advance ticket buy situations like (Name of festival removed due to My Space censorship and blog removal) and such - and we also hate having our e.mail in-boxes and my Space in box cluttered up with dumb bands who have nothing to say other than vote for us - I mean how stupid are you bands? All you are doing is being used to generate traffic for these websites, if any of them gave a shit about you they'd be covering your music and giving you gigs anyway (like we do)

Vote to get on the guilfest pay to play bill!? Are you taking the pee? (Actually seems to me, if (Name of festival removed due to My Space censorship and blog removal) was any kind of decent sussed festival that cared then a band like True Deceivers would have been booked for some kind of decent afternoon sunshine slot, they probably would bring in a few paying people, what with then being from Guildford and sounding like the kind of pleasant band who friends and local fans probably would go pay to see if they were on the bill... far be for me to tell anyone how to book a decent bill for a festival though - the (Name of festival removed due to My Space censorship and blog removal) people have already told me I know nothing about anything)

As for the tattoo band.... Quiverbone

I mean how much is 60 dollars, 30 quid or something?

well there are plenty of ways to support something that doesn't involve spaming people you otherwise never talk to with crap like this voting bullshit, I am sick of people asking to be added to our friends list and then doing nothing but spaming crap like this at us, why did you ask to be added anyway?? What makes you think someone in England wants to know about some tattoo place in somewhereville USA? How is that helping you, your tattoo shop friends or anyone else, can't you bands work out that all this does is annoy people - why don't you use My Space in a positive constructive useful way? It could be a very useful tool of communication, a positive way to get your music out to people if only you would stop and think...

Please feel free to delete us.But we didn't request an add from you, you requested the add from us. I'm sure it was some friend generator anyway and not the work of an individual. Thanks so much for your support.

no, YOU sent the request, I have no idea who the hell you are, never heard of you, have no idea what you sound like, actually, I have bothered to check you out now, and be sure, they'd be a frozen over month of sundays before we'd want to add you lot, I mean, not exactly on the cutting edge of music are you, I'd hate to think what kind of 60 dollar tattoo you'd get yourselves if you won - not you're just another dumb annoying band on My Space who ask to be added to our friends list for some reason or other, just to spam us with dumb bulshit by the looks of it - and if you're using a friend generator then you're even bigger clueless idiots - there again well done, I wouldn't have though, going by the depth and intelligence of your music, that you were clever enough to get your knuckles off the floor and work out how to use a friends generator...

BANDS!!!! Work out how to use My Space in a positive way and don't spam is with vote for this that and the other crap, and especially don't spam us with dumb vote for us to get on to GuilFest crap!!!

I'm thinking time for the great ORGAN DUMBEST DUMB BAND OF THE YEAR 2008 contest - all you bands pay 5 quid each to enter, then you stick adverts and banners on your websites and My Space and spam everyone to come vote and get the traffic up on our website - the six bands with the most votes get to buy 100 pounds worth of tickets for a gig they get to play - hey you can sell the tickets to all your new mates who voted for you after you spammed then, that isn't pay to play is it! Then we'll have another vote on the night, we won't count the votes, we'll be too busy counting the door takings and our share of the bar money. Hell, we'll pick any random band on the night, who cares, we'll have the money by then... winner gets to have a tattoo "WINNER OF THE GREAT BIG THROBBBBING ORGAN DUMBEST DUMB BAND OF THE YEAR 2008 contest", our new mate Two Thumbs from Quickbone can do it...

8:58 - 38 Comments - 18 Kudos -

there was an interesting debate that followed in the comments bit but hey, someone removed the blog and then "restricted" our use of My Space...

Right, off to check out these demos and albums and sort out some Cardiacs stuff, new single and such, now if only we could find a new band who sounded a bit like Magma....

would you not accept a band who aresay, thrash metal with a groove and tribal drumming?

go read Organ and see, we like our metal, we're covered loads of metal, our minds and ears are open, our bullets belts dirty and our horns right up... we gave Metallica a gig once, will that do you? Paid 'em 48 quid musicians union rates, they loved it, opening for Metal Church - Metal as a metal thing

if you want a serious answer Luke, go read the Organ pages, our musical minds are very open, we have a long history of releasing/putting on/working with/playing/covering good metal - Some of the bands who have been on our label ORG include BREED 77, CYNICAL SMILE, WOLFSBANE, SABBAT, EARTHTONE 9, VACANT STARE, ONE MINUTE SILENCE, RAGING SPEEDHORN, MIOCENE, I-DEF-I, MEDUALL NOCTE... I could go on here for ages about bands we've released albums, singles, or put on compilation albums here at ORG

As for metal bands who've played on Organ bills, or featured in the magazine, we could be here for day listing this and that... go read, go see... we have yet to run a vote for us to win a tattoo competition for knuckle dragging numbnuts though, WE JUST FEED THEM TO RIP CRUNCHER...

no it was about dumbfuck bands who do nothing but spam on places like My Space asking people who they've never had any contact with or who have never heard of them to vote for them in this stupid battle of the band crap or that vote for blah blah or in this case to vote win a damn tattoo. All this vote for us stuff is just people getting you to generate traffic for them so they can sell advertising on their sites, wise up for gawd sake... promote your bands and your music properly

Mind you all those millions of Pantera clones out there are particularly dumb aren't they... as is this dreadful band I'm listening to right now, what kind of numbnut would name their band Lunatica and make music like this... dreadful!

For your first point, I completely agree. I know a lot of bands in Manchester and they all promote themselves.

for the 2nd, I happen to like bands who do Pantera/Machine Head style shit but hell, it's all personal taste, innit?

send some good Manchester band our way then. I thinks what Mr O is saying was is he likes good metal but not the clones who copy copy copy... I think we loved I-DEF-I around here didn't we (got the mon the radio and everfing), almost as much as we didn't love the security at Jillys. We like Pantera, we like Machine Head, I know I read the Organ reviews so I know we like them... can I have a free tatttttooo now please Mr O?
